Pinhole Camera

The following photographs were taken with a pinhole camera made from an old whiskey tin.

Three level pinholes were made in the center of the camera to create triple overlapping images. All photos were developed in a makeshift darkroom created in the back of my basement.

Miscellaneous Portraits

Kenya

In 2011, I spent four months working in Meru, Kenya for a small nonprofit, the Miriam Kanana Mubichi Foundation. I got to take on a number of responsibilities and projects and my favorite experiences were the times I spent teaching health and art classes to primary school students, researching malnutrition in a local hospital, and volunteering at a SOS Kindergarten.  While there I lived with a four year old sister, her dog Fluffy, and her grandfather.

Dominican Republic

I’ve been to the Dominican Republic three times now, both as a student and a teaching assistant, with the Social Enterprise Institute. While there we partnered with Esperanza International, a local microfinance institution, to interview loan recipients and offer Esperanza suggestions to improve their programs. We traveled all over the country conducting interviews and these are some of the incredible people I met along the way.

Pie in the Sky

Pie in the Sky is an annual fundraiser held by Community Servings to support their mission of providing free, nutritious meals to the critically ill in Massachusetts.  Each donated pie sells for $25 and provides one client with a week’s worth of meals. Montilio’s Baking Company baked a 400 pound cake for the event which was held at the Prudential Center.

The Emerging Trends fashion show featured up-and-coming national and international designers during Boston Fashion Week.

South Africa

I couldn’t help but fall in love with South Africa.  Everything about it was beautiful–the languages, the people, the city, the food.  It was like no where I had ever been before.  The following photos were taken over two month-long trips to Cape Town and Durban, South Africa.  I know I’ll make it back there again one  day.
